Elementary school aged Greenwich student saves neighbor’s home

GREENWICH — Patrick, a fifth-grader at North Mianus School, had been playing with a friend around 5 p.m. on Wyndover Lane, when he stepped outside and noticed a red light up the street. Upon closer look, he quickly realized it wasn’t just a light – it was a fire. The front corner of a house about 200 feet away on the cul-de-sac was in flames.

His keen observations prevented significant damage to the house and may have even averted injuries, officials say.

“I feel good about it,” Patrick said last week, though he was quick to share the credit, adding, “I’m not too proud.” He explained that things could have turned out much worse if not for his father’s involvement.

“You really should be thanking my dad,” Patrick emphasized.

Greenwich, CT is known for its close-knit neighborhoods like the one where Patrick lives and has long been considered one of the most coveted towns in the country. Moments like these are one of the many displays of the type of community and welcoming environment fostered by Greenwich residents. Another testament to what makes it so valuable, and an ideal place to call home!
